ACT-1. Geology and Wine in a Cool Climate: How Rocks, Soils and Mild Summers Can Produce Wines to Rival the World's Best

  • Tour starts -Canberra
  • Tour finishes -Canberra
  • Length of tour - 4 days
Canberra, Australia's capital city, is in the fortunate position of having a premium wine-producing area on its very doorstep. The Canberra District Wine Region in only a few decades has already produced some of the finest wines made in this country. The region's climate, with its not-too-hot summers and glorious mild autumns, is a crucial factor in this success. But so too is the geology. This trip will reveal some of the highlights of and insights into the wines and geology of the Canberra Region, and demonstrate the important role that geology plays in the creation of wines of  regional and local character - and of world class.
