The overall theme of
Australia 2012, Unearthing
our Past and Future, reflects the crucial roles that the geosciences
play in meeting the needs of societies while sustaining the Earth.
The scientific program for the 34th IGC will take place over seven days
(3rd – 9th August, 2012), during which all facets of the geosciences
will be covered. Each day will comprise a plenary ‘theme-of-the-day’
session, followed by up to 30 concurrent symposia comprising both
offered and invited presentations.
Themes of the Day
1. Unearthing our Past and Future
2. Geoscience Information Revolution
3. Earth Evolution and Planetary Sciences
4. Earth Resources
5. Marine Geoscience
6. Geohazards
7. Geoscience for Society
A draft list of themes and specific symposia topics (sub-themes) follows. We are now seeking your
input. You
