Queensland Events has worked closed with the 34th IGC Organising Committee since 2004 during the Congress bidding stage and will work closely with the Brisbane Convention &
Exhibition Centre, Brisbane Marketing, Australian Geoscience Council,
Geoscience Australia and other key parties during preparations for the
Congress.

Queensland Events
Corporation Pty Ltd is an investment company that aims to help drive the
state’s economic development through strategic investment in an
exciting, eclectic portfolio of events held throughout Queensland.
Within the portfolio of the Premier of Queensland, Queensland Events was
established by the Queensland Government in 1989 following the
outstanding success of World Expo ’88.
What
does Queensland Events do?
Queensland Events invests
in major and regional events that demonstrate proven or potential
economic success. Events supported by Queensland Events have produced in
excess of one billion dollars in additional revenue for the state’s
economy and placing Queensland in the international spotlight.
Through
its subsidiary, Queensland Events Gold Coast, Queensland Events also
runs its own events – Gold Coast Airport Marathon and the Pan Pacific
Masters Games.
The Asia Pacific Screen Awards is an
international cultural initiative of the State Government of
Queensland, through Queensland Events Corporation, which owns and
operates the awards.
